May - Connection Update!

Tutoring will be wrapping up for this school year on May 22nd. We continue to have between 10-15 students at each tutoring session. We plan to celebrate the student's growth and progress during the last week of tutoring sessions. Looking ahead, a Literacy Night and a Math Night have been planned for the summer to invite families and members of the community into The Connection to see what we are all about. These events have been planned on the same nights as Music in the Park to encourage participants to attend additional community events. On these nights, June 19 and July 24, we will have activities and games in the areas of reading and math available for families to enjoy. These events are in the early planning stages, so more news will be coming soon! (Dates for Literacy/Math nights could be changed)

I will also be presenting at the Laingsburg Lions meeting in June on the happenings of The Connection and how we have been able to support students and families in the last year. The Laingsburg Lions graciously covered our internet bill last year and we want to show them what their money went towards! I also plan to offer our facility for future Lions meetings as they typically use the elementary school cafeteria or Bates Scout Park.
